I have a suggestion we need to meet the senators office in person and also try to get more visibility in terms of getting exposed to media may be channels like
a) AZN TV
b) India waves
c) CBS
d) NBC

Volunteer is a person who takes responsibility and does a single task. Here the question was raised to have new leaders who can take a flight to Washington DC on Monday morning, change the law by noon to issue GC to every EB category, have a lunch at Olive Garden, come back monday evening.

I just did the math.
I am sure most of you have assets worth of at least $150,000. So if 300,000 are stuck in the backlog. This would mean if these guys leave this country, then that would be $45 trillion loss for USA.
Guys is there a way to get some media publicity of the possible loss of $45 trillion for USA due to US Immigration mess??

anyone wants to guess as to when EB3(I) will reach 2003 Dec. I know it is long long time away but it has to reach that date some time in the future.
Dont worry good days ahead. I am presuming that at some point of time in the next two to three years all the EB categories will be cleared off with no backlogs.

I do not think CIS has that much smartness in them. Different sections seem to go about the motions on their own schedule. They seem to be an uncoordinated bunch so far.

Age Out Issue for filing I-485: Gurus, please advise me on the age out issue of my son.
(1) Dates & Calculations effecting filing I_485: Here are the dates and the calculations I did which result in effective age of �21 yrs + 1 month + 1 day� thus making it Age-out issue for filing for I-485 for my son.
(A) Priority date : Nov, 2005
(B) I-140 receipt : 2/22/2006 I-140 approval : 3/22/2006
(C) I-140 pending period : One month (too fast where it was not a help!)
(I-140 was approved in my son�s 20th year � however, I learned that it is not of any help for filing his I-485)
(D) Applied for I-485 (for rest of family � not for son) (Thanks to IV) : First week of July 2007
(E) DOB of son : 3/30/1986
(F) Currant age : 21 yrs + 4 months (Currently on F1 and doing his under grad in US)
(G) Date to be considered for determining the age for filing I-485 : 6/1/2007
(since the monthly bulletin is released on 6/12/2007)
(H) Age as on above date (6/1/2007) : 21 yrs + 2 month + 1 day
(I) Benefit from CSPA :(I-140) pending days (C) : 1 month
(J) Effective age for filing I-485 during current window : (H) � (J) : 21 yrs + 1 month + 1 day
(2) Since, he aged out for filing for I-485 (also based on attorney�s calculation), his papers were not included and only papers for rest of the family were filed in July, 2007. Friends, is there any other interpretation of CSPA � which could be helpful in this scenario?
(3) Other Particulars (which could potentially offer any other solution / advice): I am from India and in US from sep 1998 (change of employer forced me to restart my GC process) and my son entered USA in Oct 1999 at his 13 � yrs and stayed continuously & studied in USA from 9th standard. I am sorry to hear about another child aging out. Those not affected can not imagine the anguish it causes. I also had to start my green card a second time because my first I140 application was denied. I have tried every which way to find a way round this issue. Constantly posting every time another person posts on this situation. IV to this point do not seem to be motivated to address this. While the parents on here will eventually get their green cards, these adult children lose their path. In reality these children are the real victims of labor backlogs and retrogression and it would be useful to use these instances to illustrate the misery that results from the backlogs and waiting periods. I am not down playing the plight of spouses who have to wait to be able to work, since my husband has been waiting (not always patiently) for eight years, so do understand this side of the problem as much as anyone else.
Please IV see this issue for what it is and that is a very real human issue that is destroying families. It could be used to everyone's advantage and highlight the human side of the broken employment based immigration system.

An we keep on accepting whatever is slapped on us and who knows what will be said to us in future.... "guys go home" ???
I wonder what.....something is coooking and they will be some changes soon. I have a feeling they are in fear of the lawsuit and media coverage as this thing has in fact taken off....

My guess is that we have discussed enough about the bill. Next in the line is the dream act for children of undocumented immigrants. Do we want to have a campaign to add children of legal immigrants to the bill or we want to only discuss the implications about the act, once it is passed by house and senate.

For all those who are upset with the House hearing, please take it easy. Please do not expect the hearing to discuss the details of each and every GC applicant's case. The objective of the hearing was to bring the folks involved in visa bulletins and GC processing, and make them all publically say and agree that Lofgren-Sensenbrenner bill will not flood the country with new people on the borders but at the same time since the federal agencies did not do their job properly, so it would make sense to recapture the visa numbers, and that's it.
I think that this objective was achieved pretty handsomely without much opposition. So everybody was on the same page, other than Ranking member King, whose job in such meetings is to oppose whatever the committee chair is proposing. Rep. King did not have much to say as Rep. Sensenbrenner has co-sponsored the bill. Noticeably, Rep. Gutierrez supported the bill, which means Hispanic Caucus may not oppose it either, hopefully. So it was all good.

In continuation to my posting from the previous thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20598), I have made some changes to the draft letter based on the comments received from few members. Now I have two versions of the same letters, one for TSC petitioners and other for NSC petitioners. This letter addresses the delay in processing of I-140 petitions at TSC & NSC.
Here are guidelines to mail this letter (pick the letter that corresponds the service center where your I-140 is pending):
1. Please review the corrected draft letters and post any constructive comments on this thread to make it more effective. You can do so until 08/07/2008 (August 7th 2008)
2. Based on the comments and suggestions received, I'll post the final version of the letter to be mailed on this thread on 08/08/2008 (August 8th 2008)
3. Members can then copy/paste the letter onto a word document and then along with completed DHS Form 7001, mail the documents to USCIS Ombudsman's office early next week(08/11/2008 through 08/15/2008). Please note that this form needs to get your employers signature ( or whoever is the petitioner) as we are checking on an I-140 petition.
4. You can find DHS Form 7001 at http://www.dhs.gov/ximgtn/programs/editorial_0497.shtm
5. Please make sure, you provide complete and correct information on this form to be mailed to Ombudsman's office. All forms with incomplete and fake names will be ignored by the Ombudsman's office. So please provide the correct information to the Ombudsman's office for them to investigate this issue.
6. Once all the forms and letters reaches the USCIS Ombudsman's office they will need atleast 4 weeks to look into this problem and send you a response. They are obligated to send you a response, since you sent them a completed Form 7001 inquiring about your case.
