Congratulation to 9years and Vayumahesh. Thank you both for documenting your journey. My EB2 perm was applied from the new company i have joined and it is approved this month. Hopefully i should be applying for I-140 next month.
I have applied my 485 in July 07 but i was not married at that time. I am married now and my my wife is on H1B. When should i add her or amend my I-485.

When you become current and before you get your GC approval notice, you should file 485 for your wife.

Can you please take some time to send web faxes(faxid- 20) to all the state senetors using the link on the home page , if you have not already done so. and also call them if time permits.
Coming to ur note , I guess , people who apply from F1 to I-485 you are referring are not the primary green card applicants. They are dependents on primary applicatns. If not, can you tell me what they are studying and how they can apply green card from F1? I am not aware of this route.

There's no law that employer should borne the cost of GC.
I suggest you talk to your lawyer first. The cost of Labor and I-140 should be borne by the employer as they are employer's petitions.
I have spent almost 10K in my GC process until last year and 2K this year for EADs and APs.
2K for EAD and AP this year alone! Let us see how many people on this forum has spend that much on EAD and AP. Paying high legal fees is NOT a basis to seek remedy.
I spend about 3 K in one more GC process I started several years back which I abandoned because I changed the emloyer.
That was your choice.

Well, so far so good for me. As per Zillow estimate, my home value is now 10k more than my purchase price. It depends on where you're buying.
I guess that when the economy starts climbing up and people starts buying houses, interest rate will also climb up to 6%. At 6%, I need to pay $400 more per month.
If you check interest rate trends for the last 50 years, You will notice that during every economic downturn which is every 5-7 years the interest rates do come down. Although this time the down is a bit more due to severe recession, If you notice even in the last downturn around 2002 was in the 5% range. So only buying a house on the basis of low interest rate may not be prudent.

If lets say one year from now your house loses value by 6%, The money you would save by taking a 6% loan on a lower principal will be higher than the lower interest rate on a 6% higher principal you pay now. So My point is the original principal you pay to buy the home should be a more important factor in buying a home than the low interest rate.

It seems to me you do not understand the difference between taxes and Social Security / Medicare.
With my taxes I pay for (example) roads, police, courts, public TV and so on. And I use what I pay for (another nice example is when the police paid by me catches me with high speed and fines me :-)
SS and Medicare are future services which I would not use while I am on H1/L1 or if I do not get permanent residence by some reason. This is my money which the US government has compulsory taken from me and I have not used it. So, I have the right to get this money back and use it for my eventual retirement in another country.
We do not change the law of the land to benefit us, we just do not want to be cheated and treated like retarded.
The real ridiculous stuff is the way the government agencies are treating the legal immigrants but nobody in the "great" country care to notice that, especially the law-makers.

How often have you been on a forum in your home country lobbying for injustices being rendered to citizens, none probably. Just because we are in a country where there is a small chance for a group of people like ourselves in the IV have the privilege to have our voices heard does not mean we ask for the sun. Do you think in a economy like this with high gas prices, the war, and not to mention the ailing social security system and everything else asking the government to stop taking SS tax and Medicare from non- immigrant workers is going to fly, I DON�T THINK SO. And not only that we will end up looking like a bunch of guys with outrageous demands.
So all I am saying is the issue is not SS or Medicare or entry date being the PD, but it is MORE IMMIGRANT VISA NUMBERS. I think we have lost our focus after the bill was shot down in the senate. We have just ONE demand if I am not mistaken, and I think the core team will agree with me on this and that is to ease retrogression by having more visa numbers in the pool for countries like India and China and that should be our only demand.

Just noticed there is an update on LUD on my previous EAD (not the current one). Not sure what that means though. Still waiting for response after sending interfiling letter.

My name is Debasish and I live in Santa Monica near UCLA. I think we all should get together and do something to mobilize our chapter here in So-Cal area. We all know that there are a lot of people who are on H1B and have applied for their GC. But they are waiting....
For myself, I have applied for my GC and still waiting for the I-140. Don't know what they are doing in the TSC???
So the idea should be to get them invloved...Somebody has rightly put it that we do not have a collective voice and that's why we are ignored...
Hope you guys understand...
I think we should start collecting database of people who have applied for their GC and waiting.

My application was finally approved yesterday after almost 7 years in queue. Here is the sequence of events right before the approval.
RFE email on 02/13/09
2nd Biometrics Notice received on 02/17/09
Lawyer receives RFE for EVL, EAD cards and Marriage Certificate on 02/24/09
Completed Code 3 Biometrics on 02/26/09
Soft LUD immediately after Biometrics on 02/26/09
USCIS receives RFE reply on 02/27/09, Hard LUD and email on the same day
Another soft LUD on 03/02/09
CPO email on 03/10/09
Welcome email on 03/10/09

something really strange is going on:
I485 EB2 filed at NSC Dec 3,2008, and on Feb,18 received RFE(!) requesting employment verification, divorce certificate, W2 and some other stuff that has been posted to them just 2 months ago.:confused:

Do you see any LUD update on your I-485 case ? I think when I-140 was approved and EB3 date got ported, USCIS may have touched the I-485 application.

good to know i am not alone on this! i filed AP thru NSC on Aug 15, and got a receipt notice for it on Oct 12. The case tracker also has just one entry on Oct 12 (i.e. "we received your app on Oct 12....") -- its been dead since then. no LUDs, no RFEs, nothing.
i dunno if this is a correct interpretation... but i just saw the dec processing times (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16334 thanks to aadimanav (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/member.php?u=9573)) and it says NSC is taking 3 months for APs. maybe the 3 months start from Oct 12 and not from Aug 15. In that case my AP should be processed by Jan 12.
If this theory is right, anyone who got a AP Receipt Notice before Sept 27, should have an approved AP in hand by now. I hope this is the case becoz then its just 3 more weeks. A lot of ppl would be on the same boat then
