Good thing you are doing and not talking, but lot of members are giving good suggestions, like contacting Professors who attended the Hearing this morning in the judiciary commitee meetings. Isnt that a new idea that was brought about only today...
We need more ideas and more action as we go along.
...not people running around with sticks trying to exert power or whatever they think they are doing..I mean grow up man..learn to deal with people

It is so true. BEC victims are now I-140 backlog victims. It might help if IV can campaign for I-140 premium processing for BEC backlog victims. Ours is EB2 2003 from PBEC. LC process took 4 years. We are still waiting for I-140 to be approved while they are approving GCs for 2006 filers. It is absolutely unfair game by USCIS.

Read his case fully. Her two sisters and brother are also in the US...She is not the sole bread winner.
I have read. Have you read??:)
Just in case if you still don't get. My response is to the original post by "Sufferer".
You seem to have mixed "Orangutan"'s post with the original.

Not everybody on this forum earns 144,000 a year. What world are you living in my friend? Do you not get out that often?
Absulutely agree. Also $144,000 in some areas translate to $90,000 in some other areas depending on cost of living, taxation etc... Not all spouses work. So for them, every bit of Government stimulus is needed.

While Illegal immigrants are simply using international drivers license, we, legal immigrants, are having difficulty getting to drive legally. This is simply ridiculous.

As baburob2 mentioned, title 4 and title 5 relate to us legal immigrants. Hopefully the committee will get to that before 1.00 pm since the hearing ends at that time today!

looks like many people in this thread are planning to travel using AP. Just curious: are you all currently using EAD? I heard that once you enter using AP your H1 is no longer valid and you must use EAD though you are still working for the same company.

I am having a home loan with ICICI. I strongly recommend do not go with ICICI. They are very fast to increase variable APR. If it declines their comment was who are watching a market. In one instance all other banks reduced their VR but not ICICI. When I emailed ,they simple said we will let you know if there any changes but never reduced. In case increasee even before announcement by RBI, they increased my APR. More over If I want to repay earlier they are charging 2% penalty. so I stongly advice do not look ICICI bank for load if you want save some money. They are not right when it comes to loan. I had always difficult to change my address on my A/c

Sen. Kyl: Has also released a press statement, did not read it, asked me to check it on the senators webpage. Took my opinion though.
Senator Jon Kyl Press Office (http://kyl.senate.gov/record.cfm?id=324534)
Kyl and Graham have released the press statement together -
Kyl, Graham Response to Partisan Democrat Immigration Proposal
WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senators Jon Kyl and Lindsey Graham today made the following statement in response to the immigration reform proposal announced by Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and other Democratic Senators:
A conceptual paper that promises everything to everyone is not the same as responsible legislation that compiles the best ideas from both sides of the aisle. The Senate Democrats proposal is nothing more than an attempt to score political points. It poisons the well for those of us who are working toward a more secure border and responsible, bipartisan reform of our immigration laws.
What is being billed as a comprehensive immigration and enforcement package, is actually far more permissive than the 2007 bill. It doesnt provide the funding to ensure that the border is actually secured, it doesnt end chain migration, and there is no real temporary worker program. Both of us have been involved in serious efforts to pass comprehensive immigration reform, and believe, given the increase in violence along the border, that additional border security measures must be funded immediately.
Since 2007, threats have increased, some border technology has failed, and the American people have lost confidence in the federal governments ability to secure our borders. So it is our belief that Congress should focus on border security first and that will eventually allow Congress to seriously consider bipartisan immigration reform, instead of politically-motivated conceptual papers.
Most of the border enforcement measures that have been proven effective can be achieved by appropriating necessary funding. We need to work on a bipartisan basis to get this done.

Every visa bulletin there is some information of the coming months processing that needs to be interpreted. The Oct 08 bulletin talks about the following:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4357.html
E. EMPLOYMENT VISA AVAILABILITY
Item E of the May 2008 Visa Bulletin (number 118, volume VIII) indicated that many Employment cut-off dates had been advancing very rapidly, based on indications that the Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) would need to review a significantly larger pool of applicants than there were numbers available in order to maximize number use under the FY-2008 annual limits. That item also indicated that if the CIS projections proved to be incorrect, it would be necessary to adjust the cut-off dates during the final quarter of FY-2008. The CIS estimates have proven to be very high resulting in: 1) the unavailability of all Employment Third preference categories beginning in July, 2) the unavailability of numbers for China and India Employment Second preference adjustment of status cases during September, and 3) the establishment of many October Employment cut-off dates which are earlier than those which applied during FY-2008.
Little if any forward movement of the cut-off dates in most Employment categories is likely until the extent of the CIS backlog of old priority dates can be determined. It is estimated that the FY-2009 Employment-based annual limit will be very close to the 140,000 minimum.
Correct me if I'm wrong, BUT it was not until 2005 that the backlogs started to appear (owing to introduction of PERM?). What the hell have they been doing from 2005 until now?!!! WHY don't they still have a friggin' clue as to the number of cases in their system?
DAMN SLACKERS I SAY!!

This is good information to know. If this is the case, then at least once in a year they have to make all the categories current. May be for September every year so that they do not waste any VISA numbers.
Again that depends on the demand vs supply. To have every one approved in EB3 (esp back logged countries), EB1 (All countries), EB2 (All countries) has to be current. Then the extra visas flow down to EB3 (ROW) and to all back logged countries (India, China, etc).
I am still wondering how DOL made all countries current in July bulletin. I think it is mainly due to many Labor Applications in BEC is either replaced by PERM or might not make all the way up to I-485. Many of us 2001 / 2002 filers discussed this theory a lot and did came to the conclusion that such a back log is artificially created as DOL, DOE and USCIS, who does not know exactly how many are there in approvable condition.
That is proved beyond doubt by the July bulletin :)
Hey guys make hey while the sun shines. I wish all of you will get GC much faster than us.
Thanks

Can someone please put this on digg?

To complete the applications in time, the immigration agency put employees to work both days last weekend at service centers in Texas and Nebraska, immigration officials said. They said that 25,000 applications were processed in the final 48 hours before Monday’s deadline.
In some cases, security clearances required by the F.B.I. were not entirely completed, immigration officials said. The agency approved some applications “when we were certain the process will be completed very shortly,” Mr. Aytes said.

If you are yourself not contributing, how will you convince them to contribute. :D
Great! Someone should give you an award for motivation
